Homo Teknis Episode 18 - Not Your GF's Mix !!!

Episode 18 of the Homo Teknis Pocast features tons of music that your girlfriend does not like. Lots of bass heavy tracks, not designed for laptop speakers. Annoyingly loud and obnoxious dubstep and drum n' bass. There's also an unnecessarily long custom intro you can choose to skip. I was basically experimenting with doing stereo effects in Logic. This episode was premixed in logic, some crappy almost non-existent transitions, but all built for your listening pleasure. Please enjoy FULL BLAST! http://archive.org/details/Ht18-NotYourGfsMix

2/17/2012 Song of the Day!

Well, consistency is the thing isn't it. As you may have NOT noticed since approximately 0.4 people on average listen to this song of the day thing, I missed a few days there. Mainly because I was busy, partly because whenever I thought about doing it, I wasn't sure if that 0.4 person would even care either way. Whatever.

Deadmau5 finally released Maths today after claiming to getting the ball rolling on releasing it over a month ago. Not like you care to know, but apparently his new house/apartment is almost finished being remodeled along with a new studio, so once that shit is done, he should be releasing some stuff more consistently....speaking of which... dang it.

Here's video of him performing live on what looks like the back of the boat at the beginning of MGS2 for what looks like some stupid idiot people without his mau5head on.

2/13/2012 Song of the Day!

It's monday. Know those days when you wake up and you want to just get out of bed and punch your roommate in the face? I don't feel like that today. But this is the type of song that if it were your alarm clock, it would probably make you do literally punch the nearest person to you in the f'ing face, simply because they didn't understand how FULL f'ing BLAST this song is. It's monday, which means you might get pissed at someone for some stupid 1st world bullshit, or if you are in a third world country reading this post during your once a month trip to the 3 computer dial-up comp. lab in your school, you may not understand the complex inner-workings of a spoiled 1st world brain, so just enjoy this song and let it inspire feelings of hatred for America or whatever else. Or if you are still TOO chill and Dalai Lama to indulge the Dark Side this morning, then GTFO, it's monday godsdammit.

Bare is my favorite hard bass producer, and this remix of his is like a 90's heavy metal scream fest with bass lines from tomorrow.

2/12/2012 Song of the Des!

Is today a happy day? Barring any firery wrecks, yes, very happy. Enjoy this awesome nu disco track from Scandinavian Todd Terje. It's more complex than it sounds like at first so give it a chance. Below is the description of the track by another blogger who probably knows more about music than I do so I won't try. This song was featured on NPR's song of the day blog a week or two ago, and was part of the reason I wanted to start a song of the day thing myself.

"...Terje steps out with a winning four-track EP titled It's the Arps — and it is, because all the music was made with a classic old ARP synthesizer. Terje's range and dynamism is on full display in Arps' lead track, "Inspector Norse," which starts with a cosmic whoosh before settling into a hopping little disco groove.

"At first, the track doesn't sound like much, but as it builds over nearly seven minutes, things coalesce neatly: The lead "piano" line begins meanderingly but soon settles into a fetching tune, and when it drops out about two and a half minutes in, a computery-sounding line that had been playing support steps into the limelight and steals the show. It crests and ebbs differently for the rest of its time, too, but that groove remains rock-solid, impossible to resist, and critical to what's already one of 2012's defining dance tracks." - Michaelangelo Matos

2/11/2012 Song of the Des!

It's cold and the slightest of snow flurries are flurrying here in Athens, OH today. But I don't feel depressed. I tried to choose a techno track that captured the serenity and the silence of the outside AND the not depressed mood I'm in for whatever reason. It's 'Leaving' by Gregor Tresher.

2/10/2012 Song of the Day!

Here's a beautiful classic track from one of my favorite producers, Paul Keeley, who has been off the grid for over a year at least. Eim so HAAD to zat (Bing translation: That sucks.) This is Life Aquatic. The video is unrelated, fan-made, but kind of related because the dude ripped clips of water from Planet EARTH.

2/9/2012 Song of the Day

Picked up a part-time job this week and instantly became SO frakking busy i didn't even have a chance to do the song of the day for wednesday... :( Not like anyone cares. :'(

And since im up late working, 2/9's SOD is posted early. It's thursday now and i feel like a darker grinding marching techno track from Good ol' Dutch duo Mason. It's called 'Ignite'. Keep truckin' the weekend is on the horizon... somewhere far far away on the horizon...

Song of the Day 2/7/2012!

Today's song of the day is actually 87 songs. In a mix. 84 minutes long. From Dieselboy. He released this mix yesterday and was all jacked about it, and I quote:

"My goal is to make the most intricate, layered, and amazing mix that’s ever been done. Period. I’m not trying to just put out a mix; I’m trying to put out a mix that other DJs will listen to and aspire TO do. I don’t fuck around. I want to be amazing."

SO, if you feel like listening to like 60 Drum & Bass tracks and the rest dubstep tracks all, at least mathematically, less than one minute, then you're about to have a great freaking tuesday.

2/6/2012: Song of the Day!

After playing the Syndicate demo, in which you rip computer chips out of peoples' heads, there's an intense trailer which makes the game look probably legitimately twice as good as it actually is. And most of that is probably because of the song. Skrillex worked on the song officially for the game as far as I understand. It would probably make a montage of old people in a nursing home twice as intense...

Song of the Day 2/4/2012

I'm tired of half blasts and zero blasts that continue to plague me. I go out to SEEK out FULL BLAST. Tomorrow's the super bowl. I intend on busting it FULL BLAST.

Here it is, Bloody Beetroots remix of The Whip's Muzzle #1. Get going. Seek full blast in your existence. Not merely subsistence.

Song of the Day 2/3/2012

Song of the Day 2/3/2012! For friday I felt it was appropriate for something slightly more upbeat. If we're measuring temperature by the # of motorcycles that drive by per hour, my office is 10,000. I'm trying to tell you that it's f'ing hot in here. This has nothing to do with today's song, OR does it???

Here's the David Granha remix of The Great Dog by 16 Bit Lolitas. Dark yet fun.

Song of the Day 2/2/2012: Groundhog Day!!!

Song of the Day 2/2/2012! Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter... I'd like to imagine this song was playing in his sweet little hut-home where he pigs out and doesn't hibernate all winter like normal groundhogs. But like yesterday's song, this one is too high-class for the likes of ground-dwelling lessers. This is a kinda gritty tech house track led by unrelenting base lines called "The Original Idea" by Bufo (Wolf Trap is the label).

Soundcloud link allows for straight up DL's so if you dig the track you might want to pick it up before it reaches a limit! Enjoy!

Song of the Day 2/1/2012

What's up everyone? I'm going to start posting a song daily here to help you get that teknis fix in-between overdue chintz podcast episodes. Hope to see some likes and opinions about the songs as well!

The first Song of the Day is from Matt Lange, a producer of high-class super-advanced elitist teknis. This song is Part 2 (of 3) of his "Here and Back Again" release. This downbeat combination of the organic and synthesized sounds requires full attention of the listener for true appreciation.
